Story
The Moodie Davitt Report has launched #KickCancerThon to raise visibility and funds for cancer research and related cancer causes worldwide. It is a classic global + local campaign.
#KickCancerThon is the brainchild of the late Sinead Moodie, formerly The Moodie Davitt Report Chief Operating Officer.
In July 2025 Sinead was diagnosed with NUT Carcinoma Lung Cancer, an ultra-rare, very aggressive variant of the disease. A non-smoker her whole life, Sinead was just 40 at the time of diagnosis, had loving children of 4 and 2 (now 5 and 3), and a devoted husband, Adrian.
She received the extraordinarily caring and professional support of The Royal Marsden Hospital in London, which opened in 1851 as the world’s first hospital dedicated to cancer diagnosis, treatment, research and education.
Tragically, Sinead lost her battle for life on 1 February, the very same day #KickCancerThon officially kicked off. The campaign continues in her honour and memory.
Appropriately then, Sinead’s and The Moodie Davitt Report’s chosen charity is The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
#KickCancerThon is a marathon with a difference.
Teams of any size (1 to 100) simply need to complete the marathon distance of 42.195 kilometres (26 miles & 385 yards) between them.
The marathon can involve any means of athletic (or non-athletic) endeavour – running, walking, swimming, rowing, cycling, dog-walking, paragliding, roller-skating, sailing, surfing, sky diving, you name it!
Or any other creative fund-raising activity for your chosen cancer cause. You choose which cause you raise money for and how you raise it. Just keep us posted on your activities and final fund-raising total.
While #KickCancerThon is formally timed for February 2026, if you want to choose a later timing, no problem! The fight against cancer knows no time limits.
