12-Hour Kickboxing Challenge for ANDY'S MAN CLUB and MIND
Date: Saturday 14th of June
Time: 9AM – 9PM
Location: Spartans Kickboxing Academy, Hinckley, Leicestershire
Fighting Stigma – One Round at a Time
On Saturday 14th of June, the members at Spartans Kickboxing Academy will be stepping onto the mats for a full 12 hours of non-stop kickboxing — not to win medals, but to raise awareness for something far more important: mental health.
Our community of fighters, coaches, and supporters will be rotating in groups of three, training in 20-minute stints throughout the day — switching between training, pad-holding, and recovery. From 9AM to 9PM, the gym will be alive with movement, energy, and purpose.
This challenge is about more than just physical endurance. It’s about showing that mental strength is just as important, if not more so — and that no one should fight their battles alone.
Why We're Doing This
Mental health doesn’t wear a uniform, and it doesn’t discriminate. Yet, stigma still stops too many people — particularly men and young athletes — from speaking out and seeking help.
In the UK, 3 in 4 suicides are men, and suicide remains the leading cause of death for men under 50.
1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem each year.
Research shows that men who engage in sports or physical training are more likely to experience improved self-esteem, reduced stress, and a stronger sense of purpose and belonging.
At Spartans, we’ve seen firsthand how martial arts offers more than fitness — it brings self belief, a sense of purpose, a brotherhood where people look out for each other. Our gym is a safe space where men and women alike can show up, train hard, and talk openly about the things that matter — both on and off the mats
We’re proud to be raising money for Andy’s Man Club, a fantastic mental health charity that provides a vital lifeline for men who are struggling. With free, confidential support groups held across the UK every Monday evening, Andy’s Man Club creates a safe, non-judgemental space where men can talk openly, listen, and support one another through life’s challenges. Their mission is simple but powerful: “It’s OK to talk.” By breaking the stigma around men’s mental health and encouraging conversation, they’re helping to save lives — and we’re honoured to support their incredible work.
We’re also raising money for Mind, a leading mental health charity that works tirelessly to make sure no one has to face a mental health problem alone. Mind offers crucial support through helplines, counselling resources, advocacy, and community services, while also campaigning to improve mental health services and challenge stigma across the UK. Whether someone is struggling with anxiety, depression, or simply doesn’t know where to turn, Mind is there to listen, guide, and help. Every donation helps them reach more people and continue their vital mission: for better mental health, for everyone.
