Hi everyone!

Every year a Movement Medicine 72 hour dance ceremony takes place in Devon. Myself along with other dancers will be diving deep into dance and raising money for various charities. The charity that I have chosen to dance for is Cataract surgery Herona Hospital Uganda Imet2000.

My friend, Richard Field has (over many years) helped to fundraise, build and supply Herona Hospital in Uganda, which is a village hospital offering free quality healthcare that now serves many other surrounding villages who would otherwise have to travel miles for help.

It has been found that cataract operations have a big positive impact on poverty, for example if a member of the family can’t see, they need to be cared for. After the operation, being able to see again allows other members of the family the ability go back to work or school.

Each operation costs around £120 and they do 20 operations a month. Often, their cataracts are so severe they are blind. After surgery their sight is restored, which is wonderful. The free operations are carried out in Herona Hospital by retired Ugandan doctor Susan Kikira.

Thank you so much for your support in whatever way you can, big or small, it is much appreciated.

Sending lots of love and gratitude Kiera xxxx
