Story

Hello,

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page supporting the MND Association.

Last year, I discovered that a lifelong family friend, Andrew Clarke, had been diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

I have known Andy for over 25 years, and he has been an incredible role model to my childhood best friend Morgan, his family, and wider professional network.

For anyone that has already had the pleasure of meeting Andy , you’d be quick to notice his intelligence, charisma and humour, but above all else, his loyal friendship.

I cannot begin to imagine what Andy and his family are going through during this difficult time, but I at least wanted to do something that can somewhat contribute to a wider good in these challenging circumstances.

To raise money for the MND Association, me and my partner Sarah have decided to run the Cardiff half marathon for the second time, this time aiming to run it in under 2 hours.

Money raised will directly support people like Andy, funding vital research, care, and campaigning. Your efforts can make a real difference:

£55 could pay for a chemical needed to preserve up to 600 important cell samples in MND research.

£100 could help a person with MND read to their children even when their voice is beginning to fail, by providing a voice amplifier.

£500 could help a person whose voice has been taken by MND to communicate with their loved ones, by providing a tablet device.

£1,000 could pay to perform whole genome sequence on a person’s entire DNA to help us better understand the causes of the disease.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
