Neil & Georgia Peden's Kilimanjaro Climb

Climbed Kilimanjaro
Rather than tempt fate Neil and Georgia kept quiet about their self funded attempt to climb Kilimanjaro which they successfully achieved at 6-30am on Thursday 21st September .
Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free standing mountain in the world .
After 6 nights camping on the mountain in sub zero temperatures it as with a mixture of joy and relief that they reached the top of the 19,341 foot peak accompanied by their trusty Home-Start Trafford Salford & Wigan (HSTSW) tee shirt, their three supportive climbing group companions and a marvellous team of guides and porters .
It was always the case that if the climb could be achieved any funds that could be raised were to assist the marvellous support that the professional staff and highly trained volunteers of HSTSW provide to families in difficulties across the three boroughs. Neil and Georgia have a clear and thorough understanding of the vital work that HSTSW carry out every day with Neil having been a volunteer board member for over six years, the last three and half years as Chair and Georgia, who is a paediatric nursing sister at The Christie hospital in Manchester during day, having been a home visiting volunteer for over two years .
With ever increasing demand on the help and support that HSTSW can provide any donations will allow us to provide assistance to more families so reducing the likelihood that crises will escalate
