Story
Ten years ago we lost our beautiful, energetic, funny, bright little boy Oli, aged 8 years, to a sudden unexpected illness. He was forever climbing, running about, laughing and causing mischief. On a trip to South Africa, we took both our boys to a Johnny Clegg concert at Kirstenbosch Gardens where they fell in love with the song 'Top of Kilimanjaro'. We always talked of climbing it together when they grew up. Unfortunately Oli will never get to do that but we would like to, to honour his memory on this ten year anniversary. Quentin, myself and our older son Cam along with 6 other family members and friends will be tackling the challenges of the mountain in September. We will be supported by the mountain guides and porters from Arusha based company Mafie Adventures on the 8 day hike. Cam has chosen Birmingham Children's Hospital as the charity for which we would like to raise funds as they looked after Oli and us as a family in his final days
At Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, they believe there’s always more they can do for sick kids and that’s why they will always strive to do more for their patients and families. It’s their mission to raise the vital funds needed to make a real difference to all who use their hospital.
Your support empowers them to take innovative approaches to treating some of the sickest children in the UK. Your fundraising enables them to try to make their hospital feel just like home. Your donations are helping them to find new ways to treat and cure childhood diseases.
