Story
Imagine you are just (or approaching) 40, have a young family, with young children, and many, many big dreams for the next at least 40 years to come. You have a quite balanced life, although more work loaded at times, but eat healthy, are fit, love spending time outdoors with family, you laugh a lot, always positive and there’s nothing that can stop you from anything you want to achieve. Until you are hit by the cancer bus. Out of nowhere.
It happened to us at the beginning of this year - my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. It took us a couple of weeks to process the news and replan the future. We are just at the beginning of the battle, week 1 after her breast cancer surgery, out of a minimum 5 years treatment. But will get there, healthier than ever.
I chose to run this fundraiser in March and for the King’s College Hospital for certain reasons:
- March is the month when we celebrate the women in our lives, with the International Women’s Day on the 8th of March. We want to raise awareness for women to catch any sign of cancer at their possible earliest for the best outcomes. We’ve learned just recently that most of the breast cancers happen because you are a woman. It’s nothing you’ve done wrong or could have done better, and the genes are contributing to just 5% of cases. Constantly check your breast or urge the women close to you to do so frequently.
- March marks the beginning of Spring, which is all about new beginnings and transformation.
- In the past months we got an incredible support from Princess Royal University Hospital Orpington. Absolutely amazing people, ALL (and we talk about an army of people for each case!), very professional, guided by facts, but keeping positive and helping us go through this in various ways – information, counselling, etc.
I will be training every day this March and invite any of you to join me raise awareness and raise as much money as possible to help King’s College Hospital Charity offer outstanding support of any kind to those in need in their hospitals.
Check my daily training on Instagram, on liviu.morariu, and I challenge you to join in and share your training results with me!
