Story
Nicola's Volunteers are taking part in the Edinburgh Kilt Walk on the 13th of September to raise funds for Nicola's.
Nicola’s is also deeply personal. In 2024, our family lost Nicola Thyne, who died by suicide after many years of living with chronic pain associated with endometriosis. Her planned operation was cancelled the week before she ended her life. She was bright, beautiful, deeply loved, and her loss continues to strengthen our commitment to improving understanding of women’s health and wellbeing.
In February 2025, with her mum Elaine’s consent, Nicola's was founded in Nicola's name — to honour her memory, to support other women, and to encourage conversations that matter. The name “Nicola’s” was chosen deliberately — so it feels like visiting a friend. Because Nicola truly was everyone’s friend.
We became a charity in March 2026. Nicola’s Supporting Women in West Lothian & Beyond is now a registered charity dedicated to supporting women as they navigate a wide range of challenges.
Our purpose is to provide vital support, raise awareness of key issues such as women’s health and mental health, and actively promote suicide prevention.
As a charity, we are committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment where women feel respected, understood, and able to seek help when they need it—whether during times of crisis or as part of maintaining their overall wellbeing.
We provide Drop Ins, Walk & Talks, Educational Talks and Wellbeing Events.
We focus on reducing barriers to support, encouraging early intervention, and ensuring that practical help and guidance are always accessible.
By working alongside our community, we aim to help women navigate life’s challenges and build stronger, healthier, and more positive futures.
