Our initial plan was to climb Cho Oyu, but we have hit our first challenge in climbing an 8000m mountain since the Tibetan authorities are not issuing permits for foreign climbers unfortunately this season. Therefore, Cho Oyu is no longer possible.

Discussing with our expedition provider, we are excited to take on an alternative 8000er located in Nepal.

Mount Manaslu, the eighth-highest mountain in the world at 8,163 metres (26,781 feet), sits in the Mansiri Himal range of the Himalayas.

Standing only 25m less lofty than Cho Oyu, Manaslu is a highly demanding 6-week expedition and technical climb that involves steep snow slopes, crevasses, seracs and near vertical ice walls.

They previously summited Kilimanjaro (5,895m / 19,340ft) in 2024, followed by Aconcagua (6961m / 22,839ft) in 2025. The highest mountain outside the Himalayas, their Aconcagua climb raised £31,166 for Macmillan.

Summer 2025 entailed training courses in the Alps and subsequently their first unguided climbs of the Eiger and Monch in Switzerland and Mont Blanc in France.

Both Kim & Becca lost a parent to cancer too soon - this climb will be dedicated to their memory and help Macmillan Cancer Support continue its vital work supporting cancer patients and their families through incredibly difficult times.

They have been nominated for the 2025 Macmillan Thanks To You award, and whilst we may not have received the final award this year, our nomination alone is a powerful testament to all the support we have received so far.
