Story

I first started running 30 years ago when my friend suggested we run a Race for Life 5k. At that point I couldn’t run to the end of the road, but we trained and did it without stopping, we were so proud of ourselves and basically I’ve not stopped since. I’ve been lucky enough to run 15 marathons, countless 1/2’s, 10k’s etc, I’ve ran in some fabulous places, New York, Australia, Malaysia, Austria, Portugal to name but a few. I’ve had some inspiring running buddies and met some fabulous people. Running also led me (via triathlons) to cycling which has again given me lasting friendships and unforgettable memories. So here’s to just getting out there and doing your thing.

This year I'm running in support of YMCA Black Country, to help create more youth spaces for young people.

YMCA exists to provide the essential building blocks for a full and rewarding life: a safe home; acceptance; guidance; friendship; physical and mental health; academic support; employment skills; and access to real opportunities.

Many young people have never known these things; other people have lost one or more as they grew up, but we all need them. All of us. YMCAs vision in England and Wales is to transform communities so that all young people can belong, contribute and thrive.

Please give what you can.
