Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice has come to the aid of our family twice. They lifted a huge burden off my family's shoulders caring for both my Granny in 2020 and my dad in 2022.

When Granny Kath was taken in it was just before COVID was announced and then that dreaded lockdown. Where most care homes stop family member(s) visiting their loved ones the hospice allowed one designated person to visit and be with our beloved and that person was me. It was a very scary time for all and I feel my granny would not have understood why we had stopped visiting if that action was taken. I was there right to the end with the caring staff checking on me too even when they were unsure of things with the COVID virus affecting their lives.

It was slightly different with our dad as he quickly deteriorated once admitted but they kept him clean and comfortable until he took his last breath then were there offering support and counselling for us and especially for my mom. It was extremely difficult and stressful looking after someone who was confused and unwell but they took over that part for us so we could value our last moments with him.

As a family we will forever be grateful for the hospice, it's quality of service and staff therefore giving back to them by fundraising will always be a pleasure and honour to say thank you!
