My Endo Journey – Running for Women’s Health
In May this year, I was finally diagnosed with Endometriosis and Adenomyosis. After years of pain, I underwent excision surgery for endometriosis - a condition that affects 1 in 10 women, yet takes on average 10 years to be diagnosed. Sadly, that was my reality too.
Endometriosis happens when cells similar to the lining of the womb grow in other areas of the body. It’s a chronic, often debilitating condition that can cause:
Painful periods
Painful sex
Severe pelvic pain
Infertility
Chronic fatigue
Bowel and bladder issues
The impact can last a lifetime, and right now, there’s still no cure.
For over a decade, I was dismissed, misdiagnosed, and left to suffer in silence with relentless pain, exhaustion, and the feeling that my body was working against me. The journey has been incredibly tough – physically, mentally, and emotionally.
But now, I’m choosing to turn that pain into purpose.
I’ve signed up to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2026 to raise money for women’s health research, so that no girl or woman has to wait years to be heard, believed, and treated.
This cause is deeply personal and so important to me. It’s time to shine a light on endometriosis and the many underfunded, misunderstood women’s health issues that deserve urgent attention.
If you’re able, please consider donating. Every contribution will help Endometriosis UK continue their vital work - from running national support groups and helplines to campaigning for better treatment, fairer care, and one day, a cure.
P.S. Please leave your name so I can thank you personally 💛
With love,
