On the 25th July, I’ll be running the Montane Lakeland 100, a gruelling 105-mile ultramarathon with over 22,000ft of climb through the rugged trails of the Lake District. To help push through the physical and mental extremes of this race, I’m running to raise funds for The Health Agency, the incredible community charity I’m proud to work for.

Every day in South West Edinburgh, I see first hand the resilience of the people we support, individuals and their families facing immense challenges who are living with cancer, long-term health conditions, poor mental health, poverty, and isolation. Despite it all, they continue to show remarkable strength and determination. Their courage in the face of adversity inspires me daily and it drives me to go the extra mile (quite literally) to make sure they have continued access to the support they need.

This year, like 64 other charities across Edinburgh, we were hit with major funding cuts and faced the very real risk of closure. Thanks to the tireless effort of our team and the local community, we’ve secured additional funding but we’re still around 20% short of what’s needed to keep all of our vital services running.
