Story

This January, I’m taking on the Winter Walk for Endo 2026, organised by Endometriosis UK, to raise awareness and vital funds for a charity that means a lot to me. During the challenge week, I’ll be walking 10k a day - each kilometre representing the 1 in 10 women affected by endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a chronic, debilitating condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows elsewhere in the body. It causes a whole range of symptoms – far more than I could ever list here – from severe pain and fatigue to fertility issues and problems that affect almost every part of day-to-day life for some. Despite how common it is, too many people spend years searching for answers. Accessing care can feel impossible: long delays, limited treatment options, and overwhelming NHS waiting lists leave so many suffering in silence. Findings of a report in 2023 showed that some people in Scotland waited more than 10 years for a diagnosis.

I sadly know this reality all too well.

For years, I knew something wasn’t right, but no one listened. I was in pain, struggling, and slowly losing parts of myself along the way. I ended up having to go private just to be taken seriously and finally get a diagnosis, because I couldn’t keep going the way I was. And even now, with that diagnosis, I’m still fighting every single day to manage this condition. Endo has taken so much from me – my energy, my freedom, the things I love, my work life, my confidence. It’s completely changed how I live my life, and not by choice.

I honestly wouldn’t cope without the support of my friends, family, and the people who’ve held me up when I couldn’t do it myself. I’m so grateful for every single person who has been patient, understanding, or simply believed me when I said I was struggling.

That’s why I’m doing this.

I want to raise money and awareness so people are diagnosed earlier, treated fairly, and properly supported. So our pain is taken seriously. So things can finally start to change.

Thank you so much for supporting me, believing in me, and helping to ensure that people with endometriosis receive the care and compassion we deserve. 💛
