Kim's fundraiser for Sepsis Research FEAT

Kim Smith is raising money for Sepsis Research FEAT

Selling my book, My Sepsis & Hand Transplant Journey · 15 July 2026

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition caused by the body overreacting to infection. It kills around 50,000 people in the UK each year. Sepsis Research FEAT aims to save lives & improve outcomes in sepsis patients through world leading research and awareness raising. Together we can #stopsepsisnow.

Story

My Name is Kim Smith, I survived Sepsis & I’m now raising awareness of Sepsis, I’m a proud Ambassador for Sepsis Research FEAT Charity.

I’ve been writing my 2nd book for a while now and it’s coming to the end, I’m intending on publishing on Amazon in November and all money earned will be donated here for the charity, it’s so important to me that there’s more research and we save lives from this.

I lost all 4 limbs due to a UTI that developed into sepsis in 2017 and in 2025 I had an incredible double hand transplant, there are secrets in my book that have never been shared, it’s a very gripping, emotional and revealing read,

I occasionally earn a little money on TikTok so every month I will be donating any money from it here until the sales slow right down on my book.

Please donate if you can or buy my book to help raise money for vital research to help save lives.

Sepsis Research FEAT is a registered charity (SC049399) and we are the UK’s only sepsis research charity.

Sepsis accounts for around 50,000 deaths in the UK every year - that's more than breast and bowel cancer combined.

We don't understand enough about sepsis and the biological processes that can lead to serious illness or even death. That is why we urgently need to increase funding:

- to raise awareness of sepsis

- for research: to understand the processes that lead to sepsis, to design effective treatments for it & to help save lives.
