Story
Hello Everyone!
I am lucky enough to have secured a place in the London Marathon 2026 and to be able to raise money for this amazing social care charity who are committed to improving people’s lives….. I know most of us know someone and/or have a loved one needing extra help within social care, grandparents, parents , siblings etc, and this charity is dedicated to making conditions and services that are provided better for them.
The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE)- their vision is for a society where care and support maximises people's choices, removes social inequality, and enables people to live fulfilling, safe and healthy lives.
Their mission is to research, evidence, share and support the implementation of best practice. They use this evidence and experience to shape policy and outcomes, and to raise awareness of the importance of social care and social work for creating a fair and equal society. Everything they do is informed by people with experience of care and support.
As a system focused charity they want to use the skills and resources they have to fulfil their charitable vision of a society which enables people who draw on social care to live fulfilling lives. Help create lasting system change and work with trusted experts who have extensive reach across the social care sector.
For instance, they run an annual award called the Social Care Impact Awards which they created to identify, recognise and reward small organisations doing exceptional work in social care. They are proud to be supporting the sector by offering free our expert consultancy and training to the winning organisations (this is an example of where the funds will be put towards).
A passion of mine is running! I would love it if you could join me, run with me during training sessions, join the crowd and cheer, sponsor me, follow my story, and help me share what SCIE is and its amazing work!
