Story
I did it… I completed the London Marathon! 🏃♀️
What an experience. From the crowds, the atmosphere, and the energy from start to finish, it was honestly incredible.
For most of the race, I actually felt strong and was enjoying it far more than I ever expected. But the marathon definitely had the final say…
With around 3 miles to go, everything changed. It suddenly felt like I was walking on broken glass, and I realised my feet were in a really bad way. At one point I could actually see blood coming through my trainers. Every step hurt, but by that point there was no way I wasn’t finishing.
The support from the crowd and a photo of my son from the day he was diagnosed tucked in my pocket carried me through those final miles and somehow got me across that finish line, and I’m so proud that I kept going.
I’ve added a couple of my favourite photos from the day, moments I’ll never forget ❤️
I ran in support of Breakthrough T1D, a charity that means so much to me personally. Thank you so much to everyone who has already donated, your support truly kept me going when it got tough.
If anyone would still like to donate, I would be incredibly grateful. Every contribution makes a difference.
And slightly madly… I’ve already applied to do it all again next year! 😅
Thank you again for all the support, it means more than you know!

🏃♀️ I’m Running the 2026 London Marathon for Breakthrough T1D!
In April 2026, I’ll be lacing up my running shoes and taking on 26.2 miles in the London Marathon to raise money for Breakthrough T1D—an incredible charity driving research to cure, prevent, and treat Type 1 Diabetes.
This cause is extremely close to my heart. My son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was just 5 years old. Watching him face this relentless condition with such courage changed my life. It’s not just injections and insulin—it’s constant monitoring, interrupted nights, and a lifetime of calculations just to stay safe.
Running this marathon is personal. It’s about pushing my limits in honour of my son and every child, parent, and family living with Type 1 Diabetes.
Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) funds world-leading research that gives us hope—real hope—that one day Type 1 will be a thing of the past. But they can’t do it without our support.
How you can help:
If you can, please donate—whether it’s £2 or £20, every single penny takes us closer to a cure.
You’ll be supporting me through months of training (and plenty of blisters!) and, more importantly, you’ll be backing a cause that means the world to so many families.
Thank you for standing with me.
Let’s do this—for my son, for your loved ones, and for the millions living with Type 1.
Kimberley x
