At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you. Visit www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk

Story

In July 2021 our beautiful little boy, Ethan was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer at the age of four years old. He fought so hard for three whole years and always with a smile on his face. The endurance and determination he showed every day was incredible. Ethan sadly passed away in our arms in July 2024 at the age of seven.

In April it will be Ethan’s 8th birthday and his first in heaven. In honour of his birthday and his memory, Amanda and I will be doing a sponsored skydive. Amanda worked closely with Ethan when he was able to attend school, supporting him with his needs and helping him with his learning, physio and administrating his medications and NG feed.

We have chosen to fundraise on behalf of Young Lives vs Cancer, this charity has supported our family from day one and continue to do so. They provided us with a support worker who we dubbed “Ethan’s Fairy Godmother”. A cancer diagnosis breaks your world apart, physically, emotionally and financially. Our YLvC support worker was able to ease our burden by filling out forms, sourcing grants, granting mini wishes from Ethan. Anything Ethan needed, she sourced for him. Any forms we needed filling out, she filled them out for us. I don’t know where we would have been without our YLvC support worker throughout this journey.

We hope you are able to make a donation to our cause and/or share our JustGiving link. Anything you can donate will be given to YLvC and will support other children and their families facing childhood cancer. Thank you so much in advance for your support!

We will be posting a video and photos after the skydive for you all to see!

Please find below a small excerpt from our chosen charity about how your donations will be used to support future children facing cancer:

When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.

At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you.
