Update

Teddy has now had his three-month post-operative check-up, and we’re so pleased to share that everything has gone really well. All of the teams involved in his care are very happy with the progress he has made.

The ophthalmology appointment was the most important indicator of whether the operation had been successful, and we received some incredible news. The swelling on Teddy’s optic nerves has reduced significantly, showing that the pressure inside his skull has come down — a huge and reassuring step forward.

He will be reviewed again by ophthalmology in three months to make sure the swelling continues to improve. The craniofacial team were also delighted with his progress and how well his skull is healing, and he has now been moved onto annual reviews with them.

Back in December 2025, we received the devastating news that our little boy, Teddy, has a condition called craniosynostosis. This is a condition where the plates in the skull fuse together too early, preventing the skull from growing properly. As Teddy’s brain continues to grow with limited space, this causes dangerous pressure on his brain.

Because of this, Teddy will be undergoing major surgery called CVR surgery at Birmingham Children’s Hospital in February this year. The surgery involves reconstructing his skull to give his brain the space it needs to grow safely and without chronic pressure. It’s an incredibly daunting time for our family, but we are so grateful to the amazing medical team who will be caring for him, both during surgery and throughout his ongoing treatment.

To help give back and support the hospital that will be looking after Teddy, I’ve decided to take on a huge challenge: the Rotary Across Wales Walk. I will be walking 46 miles cross-country in a single day, from Machynlleth to Montgomery, to raise funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.
