Great North Run 2024
Campaign by Beat (RCN 801343)
On Sunday 8th September our incredible team of runners are taking part in the prestigious Great North Run to help end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders.

Story

I am fundraising for Beat, the UK's eating disorder charity. Beat supports anyone with an eating disorder, their friends and family, as well as professionals working with or worried about an individual in their care.

These serious mental illnesses include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. 1.25 million people in the UK have a diagnosed eating disorder. They affect people of all ages and backgrounds, and up to one in four sufferers are male. Eating disorders cost the UK's economy £16.8 billion each year.

I have the privilege of supporting people with eating disorders daily as they confront their entrenched and difficult beliefs. I have witnessed how misunderstood these disorders are, and how significantly this can impact one's journey to recovery. For this reason, I not only endeavour to raise money for Beat, but also raise awareness about the realities of eating disorder.
