Story

The British Transplant Games started in 1978 and is an annual sporting event open to those people who have received a life-saving organ transplant. Every year, from Nottingham Children’s Hospital, we take a team of children and young people who have received kidney transplants.

In 2026, we are hoping to have our biggest team yet and grow even bigger than the team of 31 for our home games in 2024.

The Transplant Games is a uniquely special event where friendships with fellow transplant recipients are fostered year on year with. The benefits from taking part go way beyond achieving medals!

It costs an average of £1,000 to take each child for the 4-day event, with younger children supported by parents, and teenagers encouraged to attend on their own as part of the Nottingham Children’s Hospital Youth Service supported group.
