Story
Kinetic has chosen The Ellis Edwards Foundation as the charity to support this year at Kinetic Live 2026.
The Ellis Edwards Foundation supports children grieving the loss of a sibling, parent or caregiver. Through family days out, counselling, and community connection, the charity helps children and their families to process loss, build resilience, and rediscover moments of joy, together.
The charity was founded in 2025, in memory of Ellis - a much loved son, grandson, big brother and best friend, who lost his battle with childhood cancer. Ellis’ biggest fear was leaving behind his younger brother William (8) and little sister Olivia (2).
The charity’s story…
Ellis taught us that you have to continue to live life to the full, no matter what you are going through. He always had the biggest smile on his face and did everything he could to help others, even though he was going through so much himself.
Ellis was a thrill-seeker, and loved the biggest rides at the theme parks. He was the self-proclaimed ‘Lego King’, a Harry Potter fan and he loved gaming with all his mates. Ellis was our superhero. He was an amazing big brother to William and Olivia, and he loved school almost as much as his Wednesday carvery with Grandad.
Ellis was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma, just before his 6th birthday. His diagnosis turned so many lives upside down. He fought cancer for 5 years like a real life superhero, with bravery and dignity. He endured so much but no one could stop the cancer inside him. Sadly he passed away on 5th August 2024, shortly after finishing year 6. He was 11 years old.
What Ellis’ parents and siblings have been through is unimaginable - they have shown such bravery and strength, and now they have built a charity and huge community following in his honour. They experienced first hand how little support there is for children grieving the loss of loved one and have decided to change that.
Children affected by loss can miss out on key milestones in their childhood. Their attendance at school is impacted, their access to learning suffers, they can struggle with their mental health into adulthood, friendships can be lost, and even family relationships can become stressed. Their world can feel like a very sad and lonely place. The Foundation wants to change that.
The Kinetic community support this cause with all our hearts, and fundraise in honour of Ellis and for every bereaved child who needs their help.
