Story

On June 26th 2024, we were faced with the sudden and heart breaking passing of Martin Jackson. It is hard to believe that almost a year has passed. Every day we miss the chuckles and melodic whistles from Martin around the premises, it really isn’t the same without him.

Last September we walked as a team from the Kingfisher premises in Yate to the Bristol Royal Infirmary in the centre of Bristol. Whilst the distance was a challenge we really enjoyed coming together and spending the hours sharing memories and stories of Martin. It has been decided that this will become an annual memorial walk where we will continue to raise funds for Martins chosen charity, the Bristol Heart Institute. This years walk will be on June 27th, weather permitting!

To make it even harder we will also be cycling the distance from Yate to Blackburn (Martins home town) to raise additional funds. The total distance will be just short of 200 miles. Keep peeled for updates!

The Bristol Heart Institute raise funds through the Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity, any donations made in his name are very much appreciated. Last year we absolutely smashed our target and we were really touched by the love and support that flooded in from friends, family and associates. To get anywhere near that would be amazing!

In total, it is estimated that over one million people in the UK have heart failure. There are around 200,000 new diagnoses of heart failure every year in the UK. Thanks to the fantastic service and care provided by the Bristol Heart Institute at the BRI we were able to spend another precious year with Martin.
