Story
When I participated in my first triathlon of compassion in 2014, I had just started taking testosterone. 11 years have passed, and so much has changed, both in my personal life and in the world. It feels like the right time to try (tri?) again.
In thinking about why I'm participating this time around, I've been consideration how being in motion - from our atoms and cells, to our bodies, to our whole planet moving through space - is such a deep and intrinsic part of the human experience.
I'm participating because I feel like the most alive version of myself when I am in motion.
I'm participating because, as the co-parent of two young children, it is hard to prioritize my own movement practices and it is motivating to have a goal. And witnesses.
I'm participating to put my trans body in motion, when there are such loud forces working to limit how and whether we can move through the world (including in the world of sport).
I'm participating because VSAC supports those who are moving through perhaps some of the most difficult experiences that a person can go through.
Donating to my Tri of Compassion fundraising page will allow VSAC to continue offering essential sexualized violence prevention, immediate response, clinical, and counselling services to who have had the courage to put themselves in the way of healing.
Any amount is greatly appreciated :)
