Story

The Kirklees and Calderdale Junior Lawyers Division are proudly supporting and fundraising for the RSPCA (Halifax, Huddersfield & Bradford District Branch), who were voted in as our Charity of the Year for 2025!

The RSPCA (Halifax, Huddersfield & Bradford District Branch) are a local, self-funded charity centered around animal welfare and rehoming. The Animal Centre, which is based in Halifax, takes in hundreds of mistreated or unwanted animals every year and strives to give them a better life. As a local branch, they are reliant on the generosity of the local community in ensuring these lovely animals are cared for and have a chance at finding their forever homes. In 2024, the RSPCA rehomed 317 animals including dogs, cats, rabbits and other small animals. This would not be possible without the work of the amazing staff and volunteers which turns on regular donations from the public.

As part of our fundraising, both our chair Rebecca, and National JLD representative Jess, will be scaling the RSPCA's Scratching Post Challenge on the 7 June! This involves climbing a 28-foot outdoor climbing wall in the heart of Brighouse, battling both the elements and a crippling fear of heights.

Every penny raised will go towards the RSPCA, to directly help them continue to support the animals in their care.
