Great North Run 2024 · 8 September 2024 ·

The Team works with various organisations, but mostly under the control of Police Scotland, providing water-based search, rescue and recovery for missing property and persons. We also provide water based event safety cover, and raise awareness about water safety to any interested groups.

*Taking the Plunge for Safety: Why I'm Running the Great North Run*

The Great North Run is legendary – the energy, the crowds, the sheer accomplishment. This year, though, my run has a deeper purpose: I'm running for the Borders Water Rescue Team (BWRT)!

The BWRT is a vital group of volunteers dedicated to keeping people safe in our local waters. They provide search and rescue services, working tirelessly alongside the emergency services to help those in trouble. These are everyday heroes, and I'm proud to support their lifesaving work.

The Great North Run will be a tough challenge, but knowing that each mile brings me closer to my fundraising goal for the BWRT is a huge motivator.

My goal is to raise £1000 to support the BWRT's vital operations. Every contribution, big or small, will help them continue their lifesaving work.

Together, we can ensure our communities around the beautiful Borders have the water rescue services they deserve. Wish me luck on race day!
