Story

If you’re reading this, you probably already know me in real life.

But if you don’t know me, then, in short - I’m a 34 year old mum and from Swansea who does a lot for charity. Currently, my fundraising total sits at £116,450.

I am raising funds for Morgan’s Army, a local charity here in Swansea. I have just completed the Swansea half marathon, raising £450, and I am now looking forward to my next run next week in Cardiff. More challenges will follow that!

This page will share updates on all of my charity challenges for Morgan’s Army - so stay tuned, and thank you to everybody who has donated. X

My fundraising journey:

I’ve been fundraising since I was fourteen, when my mum took me along to a homeless shelter where she was volunteering. I’m a musician, so I ended up teaching guitar lessons and running poetry and songwriting clinics, and soon after that, I took part in a charity single to raise funds for The Tsunami 2004 appeal. Other projects followed: a charity song for The Snowball Appeal, gigs for The Teenage Cancer Trust, and an ambassador role for Arthritis Research UK. I helped fundraise for the building of a new church, worked with musicians all over Coventry to raise cash for a young girl who needed urgent cancer treatment. I have also climbed Snowdon for Cancer Research, took part in Race for Life’s Pretty Muddy, organised charity gigs and fashion shows - the list goes on.

My proudest charity moment came at my father’s funeral: he was a huge supporter of our local winter night shelter and through an appeal in my eulogy, we were able to raise thousands, which sustained the shelter for many months and had a real impact on real service users.

About Morgan’s Army:

We are a charity dedicated to ensuring families of children and young people diagnosed with cancer in South Wales never fight alone.

We facilitate peer support events for families to interact with those who understand their journeys, we offer financial hardship, sibling grants and equipment grants.

We work to raise awareness of childhood/young people cancers to facilitate earlier diagnosis and better outcomes.

We issue funds/grants to projects run by children’s charities in Wales who services benefit our families.
