Story
In a moment of madness I've signed up for four days of cycling, covering 390 miles and 25,830 feet of elevation! This will be a tough test of endurance for even the experienced cyclist, and terrifying for someone like me who hasn't cycled in years! But throughout the training and actual ride I'll be thinking of the vital funds which are being raised for for Dreams Come True to make dreams come true for children with serious or life-limiting conditions who live in the highest areas of deprivation in the country.
I, and the other riders, have paid for all costs of the challenge ourselves meaning every penny goes to the charity.
Between 20 riders we have a target of £2,000 each to try and raise £40k which is the equivalent of impacting around 200 children through the Community Dream programme.
Whether it’s a UK family getaway for a young cancer patient or a specially adapted trike for a child with cerebral palsy, each dream brings moments of magic and has a lasting impact. You can see a 2 minute video which brings to life three dreams that we recently delivered and the impact it has had on so many amazing children: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_tRkZw3n-w
Dreams Come True is a national charity with a mission to enrich the lives of children with a disability, serious illness or life-limiting condition by making their dreams come true.
It is the only UK wish granting charity that supports children living in the highest areas of deprivation.
Whether it’s a specially adapted trike for a child with cerebral palsy or a tablet to help an autistic teenager develop their communication skills, each dream brings moments of magic and has a lasting impact for years to come.
