Kirsty Dickson is raising money for The Canmore Trust

'George' a Mountain film festival viewing organised by Carnethy · 13 April 2025

Vision: A world where people feel mentally, physically and societally safe enough to stay.

Story

Carnethy Hill Running Club is very honoured to bring 'George' the film to Edinburgh to raise money for the Canmore trust. The films very own Jacob Tonkin will be in attendance for a Q and A after the screening.

'George' was filmed by James Appleton a Highlands-based expedition photographer, film-maker & mountain-runner. The film describes Jacobs struggles with his diagnosis and how his relationship with his collie, George, helped him through darker days.

The physical and mental struggles of his diagnosis are painted beautifully by the film. Mental wellbeing is at the heart of our chosen charity- The Canmore Trust.

The Canmore Trust is a Scottish charity set up by John Gibson. John Gibson was one of my professors at the University of Glasgow, Dental School. He has been a personal inspiration since I first met him.

John and his wife Isobel, sadly lost their son Cameron to suicide. Cameron studied as a Vet also at the University of Glasgow. Since this event they have formed the Canmore Trust and continually devote love and time to ensure its success. We are thrilled to be raising money for this worthy charity.
