Story
I’m taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon, in 2026, the National Year of Reading to support Learn to Love to Read—a cause that believes every child deserves the chance to succeed.
Raising my own children I have seen the impact struggles with literacy have on a child's potential to succeed. It affects every element of their learning and places limitations on them. It was this experience that drove me to start working for Learn to Love to Read as I was so inspired by the work and the difference they are are making.
Right now, too many children are missing out on the joy of reading. Yet research shows that reading for pleasure is one of the biggest indicators of future success. That’s why this matters.
This charity doesn’t just teach children to read—they create readers. Through books, author visits and workshops, they help children discover stories they love, building confidence, imagination and opportunity.
Now in my third year of being their Fundraising Manager I thought it was about time that I got my running shoes on and completed this race rather than just encouraging others to do it! So I am running to help give more children the chance to unlock their potential through reading.
If you’re able to support, I’d be so grateful. Every donation, big or small, will help make a real difference.
Thank you so much
Kirsty
