Story
You may remember my 2017/18 Kirst’s Big 67 Challenge’ which saw me (with the help & support of so many awesome people) complete 67 different challenges from the Edinburgh Marathon to the Fox Glacier Heli-Hike (plus 65 other mammoth challenges in between). The challenge took off and I smashed through my £6700 target raising almost £16,000 for The Encephalitis Society.
Well it’s back…….starting June 1st/2nd 2024 at Blenheim Palace I will be turning the challenge counter back to ‘Challenge 1 of 67’ as I take on the ‘Weekend Warrior’ completing back-to-back sprint triathlons throughout the weekend.
As I will be requiring all the help I can muster (especially on the runs) I have decided to bring my faithful running buddy out of retirement (aka the loft) to once again carry me around many of my challenges……..yes that's correct PERCY IS BACK!!
I will once again be fundraising for 'The Encephalitis Society’ (now known as 'Encephalitis International') throughout my challenge in memory of my Brilliant Dad; Eddie Harris who we lost quite suddenly to Encephalitis in 2016.
Dad was aged 67 when he passed away which was the reason behind the ’67 Challenges’ last time and I couldn’t justify reducing the number for version 2.0 (no matter how hard I tried) so another set of 67 challenges here I come!
Encephalitis International's mission is to increase global awareness of encephalitis, saving lives and building better futures.
Worldwide, a person is diagnosed with encephalitis (brain inflammation) every minute. Caused by infection or by autoimmune diseases, encephalitis strikes children and adults alike with no respect for gender or ethnicity. It is an acutely serious condition with high mortality rates, leaving many who survive with an acquired brain injury which will affect their memory, thinking and personality for the rest of their lives.
Please donate if you can & keep an eye out for upcoming challenges in the months ahead for more opportunities to donate or join me for some challenges!!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH,
Love Kirst x
