Walking the Kiltwalk for ARFID Awareness 💙
Craig, Gary, Louise and I are taking part in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk 2026 Mighty Stride to raise money and awareness for ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), an eating disorder that affects someone very close to us.
ARFID is often misunderstood as simply being "picky eating," but it is a serious eating disorder that can have a significant impact on physical health, mental wellbeing, and everyday life. For many people, eating can trigger intense anxiety, fear, sensory difficulties, or even gagging and distress around food.
ARFID can affect people of all ages, but it is particularly common among autistic people and those with sensory processing differences. Despite its impact, awareness of ARFID remains low, and many individuals and families face challenges without the understanding and support they need.
That's why we're walking. Every mile we complete is for those living with ARFID, for the families supporting them, and for greater awareness, understanding, research, and access to treatment.
If you're able to donate, no matter how small, we would be incredibly grateful. If donating isn't possible, sharing this post can help shine a light on a condition that deserves to be recognised and understood.
Thank you so much for your support. 💙
