Story

I am running a marathon!!!! I still can't believe it myself. I will be running 26.2 miles, I will say it again 26.2 milesπŸ˜‚!

Not only am I setting myself this crazy personal challenge (which has been on my bucket list for atleast 16 years!) I have chosen to run and fundraise for an amazing local Sen charity near me.

As many of you know we are a very neurodiverse household. Ava was diagnosed as autistic in October 2021, Lilah in June 2023 and Piper is currently on the pathway. Life can be a challenge for the girls at times, they each have their individual struggles which they work and overcome every day. We are beyond proud of the people that they are and how they have all progressed and grown.

Since Ava's diagnosis I have been tirelessly and endlessly reading and learning to make sure I am able to support the girls the best way possible. What I quickly found out was that there is no support or advice from services or professionals. For most families after a diagnosis it is all about finding your feet yourself.

White lodge was a great support for us as a whole family in the early days of Ava's diagnosis.

White lodge provide services that enable those with a range of disabilities, their families and carers to lead fulfilling lives.

They provide a range of facilities and services for all ages. White lodge offer's Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, specialist nursery, hydrotherapy, holiday clubs, personal support in the home, short breaks (respite), fitness and rehabilitation. In addition they plan trips out, art sessions, baking, swimming, and much more.

Services and charities like this can really hold a family together whether it's in times of crisis or just accessing the community and feeling included. This is why I am so passionate about raising as much awareness and money as I can.

I am also determined to show the girls we are capable of anything if we put our mind to it. Whilst this may be my hardest physical challenge I have been up and fighting against Surrey County Council for the last 4 years to make sure the right provisions are in place so mentally I know I have what it takes πŸ˜‚

Thank you so much for taking the time to read, share or even donate if you are able to. Just know you are making a difference to so many families and am beyond grateful.

Lots of love, Kirsty ❀️ xxx
