Kirsty's Goodbye to Down's Syndrome Scotland!

Kirsty Lockhart is raising money for Down's Syndrome Scotland
“World Down Syndrome Day 2026”

on 21 March 2026

Our vision is that society fully accepts and includes people with Ds. We support families and people with Ds to reach their fullest potential by providing a range of services, influencing public policy and by changing attitudes. We urgently need funding to help families who are struggling right now.

Story

I will be leaving Down's Syndrome Scotland after 6 wonderful years at the end of March. I have worked with so many absolutely fantastic people with Down syndrome in this time who have made this job the best I've ever had and I will miss them hugely!

This job has given me opportunities I would never have had otherwise, like being invited to speak at the World Down Syndrome Congress in Brisbane Australia in 2024, and raising awareness of Down syndrome at our fabulous garden at the Chelsea Flower Show last year.

World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated on 21st of March (the third month of the year) because Down syndrome is caused by an extra third copy of chromosome 21.

I am fundraising this month to say thanks to DSS for the last 6 years and to wish them all the best for the future. Thank you all!!
