Story
I will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on the 12th April for my nephew Fletcher who was diagnosed with Mitochondrial at the age of 8. Fletcher is now a part time wheel chair user and struggles with day to day activities!
As his favourite auntie how could I possibly say no to taking on this challenge for him and run the 13.1 miles at the ripe at of 40 🙈
Mitochondrial disease is a devastating disease and it makes you grieve for a life for someone who's still here.
The life you imagined your child living is no longer the one they'll lead.
Lots of families are in the same position as Fletcher's or they have unfortunately lost someone to Mitochondrial Disease.
Together we need to fundraise as much as we can to put into research to help find a cure and give hope to all those effected by the disease.
The Lily foundation is the UK's leading charity who's mission is that we work together, navigating the complexities of mitochondrial disease: today raising awareness of mito across the globe; tomorrow unlocking the cure through pioneering research; forever supporting the mito community and empowering everyone to make a difference.
Help me help then.
