Kirsty's fundraiser for Friends of Suchana

The Great River Race · 16 September 2023 ·
On 16th September 2023 I will be in a crew of 6 rowing the Great River Race. This is London’s River Marathon! It’s a spectacular boat race covering 21.6 miles on the Thames from Millwall in East London to Richmond in the West.
I'll be rowing in a St Ayles Skiff, the Lena Reekie - one of four boats built locally in Faversham by community members and now all used as the backbone of Cinque Ports Rowing. The rowing club is a thriving, inclusive group welcoming all rowers - from the new and apprehensive to the competitive and experienced.
I'll be rowing to raise money for an organisation very close to my heart: Suchana Uttor Chandipur Community Society. Suchana works among very marginalised tribal people in West Bengal, India, tackling the roots of poverty by offering quality education and affordable health care to develop livelihoods which support and sustain cultural identities. Suchana has been working particularly hard since the pandemic, restoring the damage done to the education of poor children whose schools were completely closed for more than two years. There is still a long way to go to bring full and quality education and opportunities to these disadvantaged children.
Please join me in supporting this cause by donating what you can as sponsorship for my participation in this incredible event. Your donation will help make a real difference in these children's lives, so please give what you can today.
