We work with Wigan Athletic to improve health, enhance life chances and create stronger and safer communities in Wigan and the surrounding area.

Story

Daniel is a young person who was referred to Wigan Athletics Community Trust when he was having a difficult time, since hes been one of the young people who uses this servive hes started to enjoy being out and hearing all about his time out with them makes our day, he gets to go gocarting, escape rooms, skiinng, just out for food if thats what he wants, they always have something planned for them and without fail always do whats best for the young people and those in need, Wigan athletics community trust funds this themselves and Daniel would like to give back to something so close to his heart and to something that has helped him so much and to help the volunteers keep doing what they do best and supporting young people and those in need, Each year, Wigan Athletic Community Trust works with over 18,000 people on projects based around Schools, Community Development and Training and Skills, aiming to: Increase participation in sport across all levels of society – particularly those from under-represented groups, Encourage young people and adults to lead healthier and more active lifestyles, Improve the skills, aspirations and opportunities for disadvantaged young people and groups, Contribute towards increased community cohesion by improving the quality of life of people of all ages, Wigan Athletic Community Trust is a nationally recognised and award-winning charity; you can find out more about the work of Wigan Athletic Community Trust in the Trust's 2024/25 Impact Report. In 2023, Wigan Athletic Community Trust was named the EFL's Community Club of the Season, recognising the Trust's work as the most impactful of the 72 EFL Clubs from around the county. In that same season, the Trust launched its #BELIEVE in Communities Strategy to enhance our work and support for local people across the Wigan borough. The Trust employs over 60 members of staff across 30+ different projects and programmes to support the most vulnerable members of society and ensure that everyone we work with can improve their health, life chances and positively engage in the local community.

Whether it be supporting adults to improve their fitness, working with at-risk young people to raise their aspirations and steer them away from anti-social behaviour, or supporting elderly people to improve their social connectivity and quality of life, Wigan Athletic Community Trust aims to support all areas and levels of society.
