Story
I'm taking on a (four) marathon challenge in 2026! Over the year I am going to run the equivalent of four marathons (104.8 miles) in organised races, including my first ever full marathon.
It's four marathons because it's one for each day my sister Hannah was in intensive care. The day before she passed away, one of the doctors caring for her said that the energy her body needed to fight her illness was the equivalent of what a person would need to run a marathon every day. I told her I would match her efforts and it's a promise I'm really set on keeping.
So far I am signed up for the following races:
Llanelli Half-Marathon (February 2026)
Great Welsh Half-Marathon (March 2026)
Manchester Marathon (April 2026)
Bristol 10k (May 2026)
Swansea Half-Marathon (June 2026)
Swansea 10k (September 2026)
I also hope to take part in:
Marwell 10k (September 2026)
Great South Run (October 2026)
Any miles that aren't covered through those races will be run at local Parkruns.
I'm fundraising for Beat, the UK's eating disorder charity. Hannah passed away through sepsis, but being a person who had experienced an eating disorder was also an important part of her story. I've also struggled on and off with food and body image issues since my teens, and I couldn't have got into running without stepping away from the diet culture which fuelled those things.
Eating disorders are complex mental illnesses that can affect anyone. Right now, at least 1.25 million (1 in 50) people in the UK have an eating disorder – with millions of loved ones also affected. Beat offer people emotional support and expert advice, and work to change policies, perceptions, and lives.
Thanks for any and all support as I keep plodding on! <3
