Fundraising for Cancer Research UK

Multiple challenges throughout the year
Cancer is such a difficult thing to go through and I know it’s being talked about a lot in light of recent news but it hits even harder when it shows up much closer to home. Recently my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer, my cousin Arlene who is one of my best friends has been living with breast cancer, my Aunt Lorna has thyroid cancer, there are many people I know who have had their own experience with cancer or have loved ones going through it or have people close to them who have passed away. Both my grandparents experienced cancer in their lifetime. It hits hard! It is estimated that there are currently 3 million people living with cancer in the UK. So I’m launching a fundraiser for Cancer Research and Maggie’s Centres. My cousin Arlene thought it was important to contribute to Cancer Research UK for the future of cancer treatment and I feel Maggie’s Centres is such a wonderful and vital source of support to those with cancer and their loved ones. I also want to raise awareness and encourage people to have regular checks.
It has been a year since my health breakthrough, after years of living with long term chronic ill health and to be at this point, I wanted to do something good with it and challenge myself. After many years of feeling somewhat limited, I now want to push boundaries and face fears and rise up to meet whatever my full potential might be so I’m taking the leap, literally and starting with the highland swing at Killiecrankie, followed by a skydive in Strathallan, then I’ll be walking the West Highland Way by myself in July. As someone who couldn’t even put one foot in front of the other at one point, this is a big step forward, 200,000 steps to be precise. I’m going to come up with many other challenges throughout the year and hopefully in doing this, it will raise awareness, make a contribution, which can make a difference to those living with or who have been affected by cancer. So whether this hits close to home for you or you want to step up and show support, it’s so greatly appreciated! I’m challenging myself for my dad, for Arlene, for my Aunt Lorna and for all those who have been hit by cancer, let’s all be with them, in their corner, every step of the way!
