In memory of Stella Toner

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·

Open Road is an established Drug and Alcohol Recovery support charity in Essex and Medway. We provide services to support individuals and their families on their journey to recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Everybody knows somebody who has been affected by addiction.

Story

I want to raise awareness of how addiction, can effect anyone. My mum was a hard working individual who had a great home life, a job she loved and a loving family but a drinking addiction came into her life which she couldn't control. This addiction grew and effected her life and our lives, massively. I want people to know and understand that there are people who can help and support. The charity Open Road played a huge part in my mum's life and my family life. My mum sadly lost her battle in 2023 but I want to keep her memory alive by supporting this charity that is close to my heart. They offered support the days my mum wanted support and the days she felt vulnerable even for the family they were only a phone call or a coffee catch up away. My mum may not be with us anymore but I want to help support anyone going through any addiction as you're never alone and if you have a family/friend that is struggling, Open Road can help and play a huge part in your life. Any amount of money makes a huge difference in a small charity they only have two locations which are based in Kent and Essex. You can make a massive difference within a community.
