Wilton family fundraising for Cardiac Risk in the Young

Kirsty Wilton is raising money for Cardiac Risk in the Young
In memory of Luis Wilton

Family trek in memory of Luis on his 30th birthday to Snowdon · 9 September 2025

Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

Snowdon Hike in memory of Luis

Tuesday 9th September will be Luis’ 30th Birthday and as part of our ways to remember Luis on this day, which should have been so special as a family, we are going to hike up Snowdon, something which Luis always had on his list of trips to make.

Myself, Mark, Ross, Jason, Debbie and Jade will be walking up together and meeting our parents who will be taking the trip to the summit by tram…it will be quite a test for us all to complete the walks both up and down Snowdon and it won’t just be a stroll! Knowing Luis would have loved this will spur us on!

We now know that Luis passed away as a result of a Cardiac Arrest and we would like to raise money to be able to screen young people in the age range of 14-35 years of age.

One way that CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young – a registered charity, raise awareness is by having screening days where up to 100 young people could be tested by way of a simple blood test…these screening days would need funding in the region of £7,000 in order to have one assigned with Luis’ name.

Originally this walk up Snowdon was our way to spend a day focused on Luis but having this way to mark this occasion would make it so much more meaningful. We hope that other families could be spared the pain we are still going through.

This Justgiving page will have all funds ringfenced towards a Screening Day with monies solely for this function. Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.

With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.

By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions.
