Benson came into our care last August; we knew he was coming in from a volatile home but were hoping he had not been on the receiving end of that abuse. Sadly, that was not the case.

Benson, an English Bulldog arrived at the Rescue Centre cowering and worried, severely underweight and with skin issues.

Over a period of time, he has put on weight, and with his special baths and antibiotics to help his skin, his confidence has grown. When he was fit enough, he was booked in to be neutered and during surgery it was found that he had a deformed testicle, it was twisted which would have been unbearably painful for Benson at the time it had occurred, usually this requires emergency surgery. It was highly possible that this had come about from being kicked.

Unfortunately, Benson had yet more hurdles to go through. X-rays revealed luxating patella's on his back legs. This is when the kneecap slides or pops out of place, causing dislocation.

A staged surgery plan would be needed to correct this and the estimated costs involved are £7000.

At only 3 years old poor Benson has and with more surgery pending continues to go through so much in his short life so far.

We do not know the exact details of what has happened to Benson in his life, but we do know that when the time is right Benson will continue to have the love and care that he has known since arriving at the Centre with a family of his own.
