Story
Kitty, who has just turned 6, has just had her hair cut to donate to The Little Princess Trust. They provide real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions such as alopecia.
Although she was very determined to have her hair cut short, growing her hair and donating it was the easy part. As the wigs are hand sewn, it costs the charity £700 to make ‘just one wig’.
The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK. Kitty's parents were surprised to find out that in the UK, less than 3% of cancer research funding is spent on childhood cancer research. This means that for every £100 spent on cancer research, less than £3 is spent on childhood cancer!
3,755 children and young adults are diagnosed with cancer in the UK each year spread across 76 types, so that’s 76 types of childhood cancer with less than 3% of UK fundraising!
The little princess trust relies solely on the generosity of its wonderful supporters who help the charity give hair and hope to so many children and young people with cancer each year.
Kitty just wants to raise enough for the charity to make ‘just one wig’. Any support big or small from her friends, family and KSA community will all help her achieve this goal
Thank you from Kitty and Team Slevin.
