Story
Hi. My Name Kitty Wallace, on the 27th July I will be testing my strength and endurance and swimming in a relay, from the Rampion Offshore Windfarm, which is off the coast of Brighton back to Shoreham. Me and my relay swim buddy will swim 15km in total, swimming for an hour each at a time till we make it back to Shoreham.
Why am I swimming?
I have always been a swimmer. I belonged to Hertford swimming club (my hometown) doing swimming galas and swimming for my county. I continued this passion for swimming into my adulthood. I have always had a longing of the deep blue ocean, I love being surrounded by water, and enjoy the feeling of being able to glide through the water.
I moved to Brighton 24 years ago after experiencing a traumatic incident at sea I was determined to work through the trauma and fear and rediscover my love of the sea. Living near the sea I have built up swimming regularly in pools and the open water.
I progressed to cold water dips throughout the year and entering sea and river swims challenges. This year I wanted to challenge myself further and do a longer swim. I’m a mum of two kids and juggle my training between work and family life! Windfarm, here I come.
Why Carousel?
I am a community filmmaker and I am proud to work for Carousel. Carousel is an arts charity who support artists who are learning disabled and/or neurodiverse by giving people a professional and creative platform where they can tell their stories, learn new skills, grow confidence, make friends and succeed as artists.
Carousel supports creative practice in film, music, digital and broadcast media. Carousel also hosts the renown international film festival Oska Bright, we rely on regular fund raising to support our missions.
As the Film & Digital Producer I have trained and work with an amazing media team, their work includes Carousel TV and Oska Bright. Currently the team is capturing our events and working on other film projects. My aim is to fund-raise £500 for some additional camera equipment to develop further the team’s skillsets.
