Story
On 13th July, 2023 my life was changed forever when I was knocked from my bike on my journey to work. Amongst a myriad of injuries I sustained the most impactful was definitely the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) - the journey back from which is proving to be long, hard and not at all linear. However...having watched 'It's A Wonderful Life' with my family this festive season I am reminded of how incredibly blooming lucky I was on that day.
It was the utterly legendary Wiltshire & Bath Air Ambulance Crew that attended the scene that day and therefore I am taking on this challenge to show them a very small token of gratitude. The sensational critical care crew attend an average of 4 accidents per day and are there where you need them as fast as humanly possible (11 minutes to anywhere in Wiltshire!).
This indispensable service costs £4.5 million to run annually, and I would raise every penny if I possibly could. However, the target has been set at £537 to match the 537kms that I will cycle between now and then end of 2024 - to reflect the 537 days since my accident.
Whilst covering this distance I shall be heading back to my Kindness Connection days by dropping some delicious baked goods off to those that have been my inspiration during these tricky times - and of COURSE that includes the Wiltshire & Bath Air Ambulance Crew at their HQ!
As Clarence says, 'No man is poor who has friends' and I am grateful to each and every one of you.
