'Falling down is part of life...getting back up is living'
My life was changed forever when, in 2023, I was knocked from my bike on my cycle to work. I sustained a severe traumatic brain injury and significant damage to my right arm and am now epileptic and anosmic (no sense of smell) as a result. Recovering from this neurological trauma is a tricky and slow process - and I am now not allowed to apply for Gladiators (which has been my dream since 1992!).
However, whingeing over, if it were not for the unbelievable skill and kindness of the Wiltshire & Bath Air Ambulance Critical Care Doctor and Paramedic that attended the scene, I would not be the person I am today, safe at home with my beloved family.
Since my kids joke that I now cannot smell fear (literally!) I decided to embark on a challenge to show a small token of gratitude to these legends that saved me. I was recently watching the 90's classic 'Point Break' with my kids (Keanu Reeves & Patrick Swayze - the dream team) which made me decide to do a 15,000ft Skydive to support this wonderful charity.
This indispensable service costs £4.5 million to run annually, and I would raise every singe penny of this if I possibly could, however I have decided to set the target at £700 to represent £10 for each of the 70 seconds of freefall that this jump will entail (yikes!).
The Air Ambulance say that Speed is their Superpower - mine is my wonderful family & friends,
Thank you from the bottom of my heart x
