Story
Ten years ago, in February 2016, I fell off my bike, got a concussion and never recovered. I’ve received little treatment in this time and have lost my career. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of this life changing event, I’m going to do 10 things throughout 2026 to raise awareness about post concussion syndrome (PCS) and raise money for Headway.
Having a chronic illness takes over your life and can become everything. There’s no room left for work, friends, family, yourself. It’s just day to day survival. I’ve chosen 10 things I haven’t done before and have wanted to do for a long time, so that my life is more than just PCS.
The 10 things are:
1. Make an Instagram video. See #KnockedFor10
2. Groom a highland cow.
3. Eat Japanese soufflé pancakes.
4. Finish and put up curtains in my lounge.
5. Visit where it happened.
6. Donate my brain to research.
7. Visit Bletchley Park.
8. Throw a pot.
9 & 10. I’m leaving these open to opportunities that may come up.
About Headway:
Every 90 seconds, someone is admitted to a UK hospital with a brain injury.
Whether because of head injury, tumour, stroke, haemorrhage or neurological infection, the effects of a brain injury can be life-changing and life-long. That’s why, when the unthinkable happens, expert help is vital.
Headway UK – the brain injury association is here to support survivors, their families and carers, every step of the way.
