Story
Tees River Rescue was established in 2020 as an independent inland lifeboat charity based on the River Tees. We patrol the river at peak times throughout the year and provide education, support, and reassurance to all river users along the 26.7 miles of navigable river (Tees Barrage to Low Worsall), although we can and do also deploy on the tidal side of the Tees Barrage if required. We also provide additional search and rescue capability by deploying to callouts from Cleveland Police control room, which provides additional manpower/resources at a time when public services are struggling with austerity measures. We not only patrol and respond to incidents on the river, but also support the reduction of accidental drownings and the increase of public knowledge of what to do in an emergency through outreach and education work.
Tees River Rescue has no paid staff. We are a charity run by volunteers and rely completely on donations from the public, river user groups, business sponsors, and other charitable trusts and organisations.
I began volunteering for Tees River Rescue last year and have played an active role to the best of my ability. I feel deeply proud to be able to help and I hope that some of you will be able to help me to raise funds to go towards this amazing, life saving charity. I am doing the hard part! I am jumping out of a plane (I have never been on a plane yet) at 15,000 feet. All I ask is that you might be able to spare anything to show your support. I promise to think of each and every one of you as I plummet to the earth screaming. And publish the video when I'm done. Thankyou!
