Story
In 2019, I heard the words no 27 year old wants to hear. Not only did I have cancer but it had spread to my lymph nodes, and consisted of two different types, one of which was stuck to my chest wall. After months of chemotherapy, a mastectomy with node removal, weeks of radiotherapy, and years of hormone/ovary suppression I was given the all clear!
Earlier detection may have prevented me from having to undergo such a rigorous treatment regime. Prevent Breast Cancer are the only UK charity entirely dedicated to the prediction and prevention of breast cancer. Unlike many cancer charities, they're focused on preventing, rather than curing. Promoting early diagnosis, screening and lifestyle changes, they believe they can stop the problem before it starts. Being situated at the only breast cancer prevention centre in the UK (Nightingale Centre, Wythenshawe), they’re right at the front-line in the fight against the disease.
In September Kristen & Tasha will be walking 10km around Manchester as a pair of tits (nothing new there), to raise money towards Prevent Breast Cancer.
