Story

St Helena exists to help local people in North Essex to face incurable illness and bereavement.

Our friend Kristian spent his last days few days on Earth surrounded by his friends and family at the incredible St Helena Hospice in Colchester.

The care given there by the wonderful people at St Helena led Floyd and Kieron, who went on many treks and adventures with Kristian, to want to arrange an adventure to raise some funds for the hospice in memory of their friend.

I got enlisted to join them in the adventure and help document the trip. I’m honoured to be included and to help do something positive on such a special person’s behalf.

Kristian will be coming with us on the climb up Sheihallion which is in the Breadalbane region of the Scottish Highlands, in the county of Perthshire. It rises to 1,083 metres/3,553 ft and is classed as a Munro (mountains in Scotland over 3000ft).

Schiehallion has a rich flora, folklore and archaeology and is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its geology and limestone influenced habitats. Schiehallion is anglicised from the Gaelic, Sìth Chailleann, meaning ‘Fairy Hill of the Caledonians’. It's home to ptarmigan, black grouse, mountain hare and rare mountain willows. It has incredible views at the summit of Loch Rannoch and the surrounding area.

On Sunday we’ll be scattering his ashes in a very special place they visited together on the banks of Loch Morlich, Aviemore.

Please donate whatever you can to support this amazing hospice and to remember our friend, Kristian Clark.
